What to expect
You’ll always get a warm welcome at Castle Cliffe.
With home-made brownies in the cake tin, the Aga warming the kitchen, both fires laid and the log baskets filled, you can sit down with a cuppa while you decide which of the comfortable bedrooms is going to be yours. We provide a key for the key safe outside the back door just in case we’re not there to greet you in person.
Check in/out
Check in time is 4pm and checkout at 10am prompt on the day of departure.
Pet-friendly
2 by arrangement.
£30 each per weekend, £50 each per week.
We are happy to accept a maximum of two dogs, if notified in advance. We ask you to bring your pets own bed, bowl and towel.
In consideration of other guests, especially families with young children, please do NOT allow your pet to foul the gardens or field as these areas are often used for outdoor games. Also, beware that our grounds are not dog-proof and there can be livestock in the surrounding fields.
We are happy to allow dogs in all of the ground floor rooms but not in the bedrooms and not on the sofas or chairs.
Finally, please ensure that your pets vaccinations and flea/tick treatments are up to date.
WiFi & mobile reception
Wi-Fi is available, code is given in our guest information pack. Mobile signal is good.
Parking, EV Charging & Secure Bike Storage
Parking for up to 4 cars is available in front of the house with additional parking for 10 cars in rear car park. There are two Electric Vehicle charging points in the front car park as well. Bikes can be safely kept in a locked garage during your stay.
Nearest shops & supplies
There is a General Store in Ashford in the Water. (1.5 miles), as well as an Aldi and Coop in Bakewell (3miles away) where there is also a petrol station.
Bakewell also has a number of food takeaways.

Is there parking?
Yes, a small car park at the front of the house and a much bigger one at the back which can take at least 10 cars.
Can you cater for babies and toddlers?
Yes, we have a travel cot and two high chairs.
Do you supply towels?
Yes, we supply a bath towel per guest and a hand towel in every bathroom.
We also supply tea towels and kitchen towels.
Do you have a coffee machine?
No, not a machine but we do supply 4 cafetières of different sizes.
What do you supply in the way of consumable products?
We give a basic supply of the following:
- Kitchen rolls
- Dishwasher tablets
- Washing-up liquid
- Hand soap
- Logs (enough for your stay).
Are there any pubs within walking distance?
Yes, two (or four if you can walk a mile there and back.)
